Game of Thrones Season 8 – the one that got us all. First of all, the last season of Game of Thrones was the only season that had 6 episodes instead of the usual 10. That alone didn’t receive much positive criticism considering it’s the grand finale of the most popular drama series. Even some presidents made arrangements to get the copy and see the end before anyone else. Sure some episodes were longer than others (around 70-80 minutes) but was it worth it in the end?
According to many reviews that the series finale got, Game of Thrones Season 8 is the lowest-rated season in all of the Game of Thrones series. The quality was there but the audience wasn’t so pleased with the short season and with the writing and directing. Sure, we finally saw the main war, between the Army of the Dead and the final fight for the Iron Throne, blood everywhere, many main protagonists died, dragon air battles, but the whole season felt rushed, to say the least. One of the most important things was the season finale, the way the show ended. Treason? The end was sure questionable, the way everything ended, there were a lot of angry fans but the series still managed to receive 32 Emmy nominations and ended up winning 12. All in all, many say it is still the best series out there because it was not a fairy tale, there were no happy endings and that made it special, the end was a rollercoaster of a season but it was all worth it. Game of Thrones is still named by many publications as one of the best TV shows of all time.
